What is CPM and how is it calculated?

Learn what Cost Per Mille (CPM) means and how HypeAuditor calculates it in the YouTube Report.

Written by Iren

Cost Per Mille or CPM refers to the money an advertiser invests for one thousand ad views. This typically applies to display ads, banners, native advertising, etc.

In the HypeAuditor YouTube Report, the CPM metric is used to evaluate an estimated amount of money paid to an analyzed YouTube influencer for one thousand views of their videos.

CPM formula for YouTube:

CPM = Total Budget ÷ Number of Views × 1,000

Brands and marketers can use CPM to benchmark how cost-efficient a YouTube influencer is compared to others or to traditional display advertising, helping them make more informed decisions when selecting creators for a campaign or negotiating budget allocations.
