Why Audience Types Matter
Understanding the composition of a creator's audience helps brands and marketers make more informed decisions when selecting creators for a campaign:
Consumers are the most valuable segment for influencer marketing — they are real, active users who watch and engage with content but do not primarily create it themselves. A high Consumer share is a positive signal for campaign reach and impact.
Generators indicate an active, content-creating community following the creator. This can be valuable for niche or industry-specific campaigns, but it also means a portion of the audience may be less receptive to brand messaging as passive viewers.
Influencers are accounts with significant followings of their own. While their presence is not negative, a very high Influencer share may suggest that organic reach to everyday consumers is lower than the total follower count implies.
Suspicious accounts are those that do not appear to represent real, active people — such as bots or inauthentic profiles. A high share of fake followers in this category is a red flag, as it indicates potential audience inflation and reduces the reliability of engagement metrics.
The Authentic audience figure — which includes Generators, Influencers, and Consumers — is the most meaningful indicator of the real, reachable audience size for a given creator.
